Radiohead, long known for their commitment to environmentally sustainable and socially conscious causes, performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as part of the networks week of “green” themed programming to coincide with Earth Day.
Rather than flying to New York for the taping, the band pre-recorded an exclusive live performance of "House Of Cards" from their studio in London to air on the program, and in turn avoided leaving a carbon footprint equivalent to driving one's car for a solid year.
While this certainly may not be the future of live concerts, Radiohead’s example does offer a sustainable option and lesson in creative solutions for late night talk show performances and one-off appearances, where musical acts are shot exclusively for a TV audience anyway.
